A lot of Christian couples arrive at the wedding night having been told almost nothing, and having absorbed a great deal anyway. The culture around them sold sex as the whole point of being alive, and then treated the wreckage as somebody else’s problem. Their church left the subject alone, and the silence did its own teaching. What it said was that wanting each other was probably the problem.

Genesis is direct about it. God made them male and female. He brought her to him Himself and left the two of them standing there naked in front of each other, unashamed.

Five studies. The first two are for a husband and wife together: a theology of the marriage bed, then the honest conversation about the season when one of you wants it and one of you doesn’t. The middle two speak to each of you on your own. The last is for a couple healing together after pornography.

We say things straight here, the way a pastor would talk to a couple sitting across his desk. Read your own study first, and expect to need a few sittings for the later ones.

If this subject carries wounds for you, go slowly. Bring what surfaces to the Lord, and tell your pastor you’re working through it — some of what comes up here is meant to be carried with your pastor beside you. And God is not embarrassed by the subject. He made your body and your desire on the sixth day, along with everything else He looked at and called very good. That verdict has not been withdrawn, whatever has happened in your marriage since.

The physical book

8.5 × 11, coil bound so it lies flat while you write. Cream uncoated paper, chosen so a pen doesn’t smear. Printed in the United States. Scripture quoted from the NASB 1995.

Written from a decidedly Reformed Baptist and complementarian conviction — Scripture as the final authority, marriage as a covenant picturing Christ and His church. If that’s the help you’re looking for, you’re in the right shop. Our perspective

This book is reflection, not counseling, medical, or legal advice, and it does not replace your pastor, or a biblical counselor sought with your pastor.
